16-Hours of State Approved Continuing Education to Enhance the Quality of Your Services as an AFC Provider

In Michigan, Adult Foster Care (AFC) homes are residential settings that provide 24-hour personal care, protection, and supervision for individuals who are developmentally disabled, mentally ill, physically handicapped or aged who cannot live alone but who do not need continuous nursing care.

According to the Michigan Administrative Code / Adult Foster Care Licensing Rules, Rule 100, 14203 [1]: "A licensee and an administrator shall complete the following educational requirements specified in subdivision, (a) or (b) of this sub rule, or a combination thereof, on an annual basis." a. Participate in, and successfully complete 16 hours of training designated or approved by the department that is relevant to the licensee's admission policy and program statement.

Our company provides ongoing, professionally developed, group training for licensees / administrators in order for you to meet your annual 16-hour CEU requirement as specified by the State of Michigan or whatever state you may do business in.  We are also literate in the rules and regulations for Homes for the Aged in Michigan and can assist in the modification of your business or clinical models in order to maintain regulatory compliance and heighten your service appeal.  For out-state providers who may be too far away to travel to SE Michigan for one of our workshops, we offer self-study courses. Our subjects are designed to address a broad spectrum of issues that could affect adult foster care residents and home business management from "Understanding Clinical Depression" to "Wound Care Management in Diabetics" to "Managing the Finances of Residents". Live sessions also allow licenses and administrators to share ideas with others in the same line of work, build your personal knowledge base and network with people who are dealing with the same operational challenges that you are.

Even if a home's program statement may not call for serving a specific population, certain "care-oriented" issues affect many of those we serve, especially as they age. For this reason we cover a broad spectrum of concerns to help the licensed home remain better equipped to serve its vulnerable population. All Sessions are scheduled regularly in SE Michigan and Florida with a maximum attendance of 35 per workshop. You never have to request our training programs, ours are conducted on an ongoing basis.  Training locations vary. write us at: enrollforworkshop@directcaretraining.com

We also conduct regular sessions for direct care workers in adult foster care/assisted living/homes for the aged facilities that cover everything from understanding "Resident Rights" to "Helping a Person After a Stroke" and "Basic Medication Administration". The cost for direct care workers to attend DCW individual subject workshops averages $79.95 per attendee and the sessions are scheduled about every month.  All schedules subject to change with or without notice.

Approval for continuing education courses by the State of Michigan Department of Human Services must never be interpreted as an endorsement by their department of any other services offered by our company, its officers or its affiliates.
