Direct Care Workers Rave About Our Flagship
Programs and the Receipt of Their Own Manual for Lifetime Reference

Class will be scheduled in January or February 2007 once 10 students are enrolled

Our flagship effort for direct care workers is our 3 week program held 4 times per year in SE Michigan. The agenda meets the requirements of the Michigan Department of Community Health and is based upon the publication: Providing Residential Services in Community Settings." Direct Care Worker course pictureWe also conduct a more simplified direct care program primarily for direct care workers who do not work in specialized environments that covers items such as: "rendering Personnel Care Safety and with Dignity", "Medication Administration Principles", "Maintaining a Resident's Dignity" and more. With a variety of subjects available (and new ones being added all the time) we conduct interesting and informative sessions that anyone in direct care can relate to. Our goal is the improvement of care delivery, whether it takes place in nursing homes, the homes of patients, adult foster care group and family homes, adult day care centers or assisted living facilities. However, the benefits extend beyond staff improvement. More than half of the lawsuits filed against direct care providing companies reflected some sort of neglect or adverse action taken by one of the defendant's employees. Plaintiff attorneys rightly always seek to have admitted into evidence whether or not the direct care providing company has properly invested in and can document proof of regular, ongoing staff preparedness and development. The Proactive care providing company budgets for regular training and sees to it that it is carried out.

Additionally skilled nursing facilities must meet federal guidelines for staff development and regular training. in-services must be regularly scheduled to address staff skill deficiencies and to train in new skills. Many find it more cost effective for our company to come in and handle this instead of trying to accomplish it themselves. Others send direct care workers to our live workshops in their area. For a day-to-day breakdown of what is covered in our Direct Care Worker Course.

Scheduling Employees
Some in the care business, especially home care companies complain that they want more training and would like to use service bureaus to provide it, but staff scheduling is an issue. Direct Care Training & Resource Center, LLC helps companies to overcome this. Our live community based workshops are held on a regular basis in SE Michigan and when we come out to a client's location our trainers in and out the entire day. We provide scheduling forms to assist in organizing this effort. Staff scheduling issues must never be allowed to stand in the way of staff development efforts. The long-term success of the care employer might be at stake.

New Subjects
The latest special 3 hour workshop that gives direct care workers and edge, makes them a better compliment to licensed staff and reduces liability for the employer is: "Dehydration and Malnutrition - You Can Help!". This innovative session teaches clinical concepts while at the same time helping care providers to reach inside themselves for that extra compassion needed to recognize deterioration in patients that can be slowed. The is a must workshop for all direct care employers and is conducted by a certified dietician and geriatric social worker.

CPR / First Aid
Adult as well an Infant / Child CPR and First Aid training is available. Our company is authorized to train for by American Red Cross and the American Safety & Health Institute.
